This build is for one of our friends who does a lot of rendering and graphics in her studies, but also wants to be able to properly game on her PC.

So we came up with the following configuration:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Armor
  • RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB

The 2700X marks the perfect blend of high core count for rendering purposes, awesome gaming performance and a decent price/performance ratio. And since we're not going to water cool this time around, we can also safe us some money by using the already included Wraith Max cooler.
As for gaming, the RTX 2070 will surely do its job.
Rendering and graphics work does require lots of memory, so we pushed for 32 GB of DDR4.
And of course an M.2 NVMe SSD shouldn't be missing for those quick boot times.

When we started braintstorming about a theme it became clear quite quickly that it should be about the Portal game series. Some nostalgia quickly kicked in when we thinking back to the good old days of playing Portal and trying to figure out what was most memorable to us and could also be integrated into this build.

Since every Portal player probably knows and remembers Glados it was a necessary item which had to be part of the mod. We immediately thought about 3d-prinnting Glados and were very happy when we found the perfect template.
If you are intrested in recreating it yourself here is the link for the 3D-model.
One of the core principal of the game had to be included as well: The portals. We decided to paint the 3d-printed parts to give them a even more realistic look. Here are the 3D-models for the portals.
